How georgette is made

Georgette is normally made with highly twisted yarns. Its characteristic crinkly surface is created by alternating S- and Z-twist yarns in both warp and weft. Georgette is made in solid colors and prints. It is named after the twenty-ninth dressmaker from France named Georgette de la Plante.

Advantage of georgette saree over other saree materials is that it gives the saree an extremely playful appeal.

Georgette material made of polyester or nylon is the lightest fabric, you can possibly wear. The fact that the saree is 5.5 meters long, means that heavier fabrics would be more of a burden to wear compared to the lightweight Georgette. Georgette saree can be used on all seasons. The soft texture makes it easy and simple to wear and drape, particularly during the season of summer when its too hot.
